Their style is undeniable and their clients rock their signature everywhere they go. Here’s a look at the stylists who make the star step out with their A-game!Rachel Johnson
Stylist Rachel Johnson started the Thomas Faison Agency 2 short years ago and already has the game on lock—the athletic arena that is! Some of her BIGGEST clients (no pun intended) happen to be LaBron James, Chris Paul and Shaq. This is no easy task for the sports fan who found herself in the middle of the controversy for Vogue’s infamous Shape Issue. Now, Rachel finds herself as the lifestylist to Jamie Foxx, Keisha Cole and a few of the NBA’s most popular big dogs.
However, being a stylist is not easy, especially when there are fashionistas popping up all over waiting on deck to get their foot in the door. “You have to think outside the box and always present your clients with new ideas and brands…relationships and respect in the business is also very important to staying current as a stylist,” states Ms. Johnson, who maintains her lane in an industry where staples like Misa Hylton-Brim and June Ambrose have also placed a stamp as style gurus.
Misa Hylton-BrimMisa Hylton-Brim made a name for herself after parting ways with long-time boyfriend Diddy. She went on to launch her style agency Chyna Doll, where she began styling some of the biggest names in hip-hop including Lil’ Kim, Mary J Blige and Kimora Lee Simmons. She has flipped the style game into a business with the recent opening of Madison Star Couture, an on-line boutique.
June AmbroseThe slick, yet luxurious touch of June Ambrose has transformed the image of top celebrities Diddy, Mariah Carey and most notably Jay-Z’s leap from baggy jeans to the gentleman’s club. With the success of her first book Effortless Style, her goal is to teach everyday women how to “work-it” with what they’ve got! “Just because you’re not on the Billboard Hot 100 or making twenty million dollars per movie doesn’t mean that you can’t have a style of your own...” are one of the few quotes she offers readers in her “how to” book.
Both Ambrose and Hylton-Brim have paved the way for style mavens like Rachel Johnson, Alexander Allen and newcomer Brea “BStar” Stinson.
Brea "BStar" Stinson
BStar is a stylist on the rise, carving a niche as “stylist turned designer” with her recent collection “BStar” currently worn by recording artist Chrisette Michelle in her music video Be OK. You’ve seen her touch on Jay-Z, Usher and new Interscope artist Keri Hilson.
Alexander Allen
In 2001 the soft spoken Alexander Allen launched Transformers, and quickly made a name for himself after re-inventing rapper Eve. Since then he’s gone on to style the best in the business including contemporary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, the man behind the artwork of Louis Vuitton’s $5,000 limited edition hand bags!
